I am reading the book Born to Rule.
It is about the 5 granddaughters of Queen Victoria who became queen consorts.
One of them was Queen Maria of Romania. ( the others being Queen Maud of Norway, Queen Sofia of Greece , Tsarina Alexandra of Russia and Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain) Becoming queen in during world war I, it must have been hard. But she was a success.
Then Romania gained Transylvania. She was crowned queen of Romania in Transylvania and then built a lovely retreat in the area.
The land held a lot to the queen. I wonder if the people remember her.
